The Borough first Independents are delighted to announce that Councillor Carole Da Costa has joined our growing team of independent-minded local representatives.
Carole currently represents Clewer & Dedworth West Ward and was first elected to the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead Council in 2019, serving Clewer & Dedworth East before being elected to represent Clewer & Dedworth West in 2023.
Throughout her time as a councillor, Carole has earned a reputation as a dedicated and hardworking representative who consistently puts residents first. While much of local government focuses on meetings, reports and policy discussions, Carole is perhaps best known for the countless hours she spends supporting individual residents and families facing challenges in their daily lives.
Alongside her role as a councillor, Carole works at the West Windsor Hub, where she helps local people access support, advice and services. This gives her a unique understanding of the issues facing residents and allows her to make a real difference to people’s lives, often through work that takes place quietly behind the scenes and away from public attention.
Her commitment to the community has been recognised at a national level. The Local Government Association Independent Group recently highlighted Carole as a councillor who goes “above and beyond in support of their communities”, recognising the exceptional contribution she makes to local residents.
Carole’s decision to join the Borough first Independents reflects a shared belief that local government works best when councillors are free to focus on the needs of residents rather than party politics. The group is built on the principle of putting people before politics and ensuring that local voices are heard.
As the Royal Borough looks ahead to the 2027 elections, the Borough first Independents continue to attract experienced local representatives who share a commitment to strong community leadership, accountability and putting residents before politics.
We are proud to welcome Carole to the team and look forward to working with her to deliver positive outcomes for residents across the borough.
